Mixed Use Tower, Essex

The scheme needed to reflect the clients ambition to establish a sense of place with this development at its epi-centre. To become a beacon of regeneration for the area. At its core the scheme’s concept is a simple relationship of two boxes, one grounded, the other floating. This design rationale acts as a unifying force to innovate. A carefully considered palette of materials developed through in-depth research of the history and locality enables the bold design to sit comfortably within its urban context.

The Light House: Hovering above this hub is a landmark residential block called ‘The Lighthouse’, a superior quality exemplar housing scheme. With its 10 storeys the development seeks to balance the number of units with river views without overwhelming or overshadowing the public realm beneath it.

The Dock: ‘The Docks’ faНade opens out onto the pedestrian walkway creating a lively inhabited plaza rather than just a thoroughfare. The venue could quite easily be a gallery, coffee shop or fish restaurant with it occupants spilling out onto a refurbished plazza complete with water fountains and farmers market.
